PHILIPPOS AND CHRISTINA TSIATTALA RESIDENCE_Nicosia, J+A Philippou Architects. Engineers 2007

The clients asked for a 450sq.m. residence, with big living spaces, pool, big garden, 4 bedrooms (including a big master bedroom) and additional spaces in the basement.

Because of the spread ground floor, the first floor is seen as 3 individual volumes, with various heights, “sitting” on a base (the ground floor).

A long wall runs through the 2 sides of the site, intensifying the element of privacy from the street, while the residence itself is completely open to the garden and pool. This has a reference to the traditional Courtyard Houses of Cyprus in this way trying to correspond to the rules of the Masterplan of Nicosia, where in specific areas the design should follow the traditional house design of Cyprus.
